About Priyanka Ray

Priyanka Ray Headshot

Hello, I’m Priyanka.

I’m a self-taught artist, originally from India and now calling Auckland, New Zealand home for the past 14 years. By day, I work in software testing and quality assurance—a world of structure, precision, and logic. But when the day winds down and the light softens, I step into my other world: one filled with colour, feeling, and quiet stories waiting to be painted.

My art journey has grown slowly, gently—through late-night experimenting, paint-streaked hands, and the guiding influence of beautiful mentors. From my childhood art teacher Saptam Panja in India, to Richard Moore and the late Diana Moore of Moore Fine Arts in New Zealand, I carry their wisdom with deep gratitude.

I paint the way I feel—intuitively, emotionally, and often with a quiet nod to life’s overlooked details. Just like in code, where tiny lines carry the weight of entire systems, I find beauty in the smallest things: an old telephone, a corner chair, the whisper of a bird in flight.

My work lives in the space between opposites—the soft and the bold, the planned and the spontaneous. Through my art, I’m always searching for that in-between place where memory, feeling, and imagination meet.

Thank you for being here—for pausing with me in this colourful, curious corner of the world.
